YUM waffles, Norwegian waffles are the best. We cook them in our heart shaped waffle irons and eat them with butter, jam or sometimes brown cheese.
I tried my best converting this recipe to US measurements from Kristine Ilstad’s blog - www.detsoteliv.no
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 and 1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup sour cream
2 tsp baking powder
3 tsp vaniljesukker (you could probably sub vanilla extract, but use a little less)
1 tsp cardamom
3 + 1/3 cup flour
125 gram - about 1 stick of butter
- Mix eggs and sugar for about 2-3 minutes, add in milk, sour cream, baking powder, cardamom and vanilla.
- Mix in the flour until there are no lumps and add the melted butter.
- Let rest for 20-30 minutes and then cook at a high temperature in pan greased with butter. Add butter for each waffle, the more the better!
You can buy the heart shaped waffle iron off amazon, here is a link to one. The “Vaniljesukker” or vanilla sugar is a household staple in Norway - I buy some when I go home or through "Norwegian Foodstore" - they have all the Norwegian goodies and ship super quick to the United States.
Hope you enjoy this recipe,
Klem Jenny
